How to Order ?

Please note, all prices are retail. Trade discounts will be applied when we confirm your order. To set up a new trade account, please click on the RESALE CARD, complete, and fax to (310) 827-6616.

Are the website prices retail or trade?

Retail, but if you’re in the trade please contact us for the trade discount. Trade categories include: designers, architects, contractors, hardware stores, furniture stores or factories, furniture restorers or refinishers, landscape architects, vendors for windows, doors, kitchen, bath, and lighting.

Which credit cards do you accept?

Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. After the order is placed we will contact you to confirm stock and request credit card information.

Will I be charged sales tax?

All customers from California will be charged sales tax automatically unless a resale certificate is received via fax at (310) 827-6616 when placing the first order. Printable resale forms may be found in our “How to Order” section. Customers outside of California are exempt.

Shipping & Handling?

The usual method of shipping is FedEx Ground, with 2nd Day and Overnight available on request.

Return Policy?

Custom items or special orders such as grilles, galleries, moldings, and lighting may not be returned. Please contact us for more information. Eligible items in their original unused condition may be returned within 30 days from the shipping date. However, when the product or The Golden Lion is not at fault, a 25% restocking fee, plus all shipping charges, will reduce your credit. Loss or damage of goods must be reported to The Golden Lion within 10 days, and no goods may be returned for credit without our prior consent. Please note that many of our products are handmade and hand-finished so there may be variables in color and finish. It is preferable to order all items for a project at the same time to receive a matching distress and finish.

What if I can’t find the specialty item I’m looking for?

Please give us a call directly. Besides our on-line catalog, we have access to thousands of items through our network of quality European vendors. We can also create custom pieces to your specifications. .

Are all products in stock?

We stock many items but we may not have all products available due to the number of items we carry. The delay will not usually exceed six weeks, and is often much shorter. We bill only for shipped items, with the remainder placed on backorder. Backorders may be subject to additional shipping charges if sent in a separate shipment. If an item is out of stock we will contact you to discuss a delivery schedule or suggest a substitute. If an unexpected delay occurs we will alert you. Plan in advance when possible, and please remember that our products are shipping from Europe and are often handmade - factors that can affect availability. Products may be discontinued at any time through no fault of The Golden Lion. .

What if I need a finish that isn’t shown?

Items may be plated in finishes such as nickel, chrome, pewter, silver and gold. We also provide custom hand finishing for antique brass, bronze and iron. Please contact us for pricing and possibilities. .

Do your products retain the same finish forever?

Plated products are generally stable, but uncoated “live” finishes oxidize nicely with time, gaining a patina. Many people appreciate the subtle mark of time, but others don’t. Please choose the right finish for your needs in order to avoid costly returns. We offer clear coating on our polished steel items when requested, and plating is available.

What is the best method for maintaining a Rust & Wax finish?

Soft buffing with a cotton rag will revive the natural shine of the wax for many weeks. Wax offers a good lasting protection but will need to be renewed in a high humidity or outdoor environment. Select a quality furniture wax to recoat your hardware when necessary, or try our imported French wax – an excellent blend of bee's wax and carnauba. It offers great protection to furniture and hardware, with high shine and moisture. Please contact us for pricing and tints.

Can I use The Golden Lion levers with my existing door locks?

With one condition: The spindle (the small rod connecting the two levers or knobs on each side of the door) must have a square profile. The majority of U.S. locks are on a diamond profile but a few allow for the European square standard. Check with your lock manufacturer for this requirement. You will also find a full selection of heavy-duty European locks in our "Residential Locks & Latches” section, along with their specifications.

Can you drill back plates to my specifications if I buy locks elsewhere?

No problem. For a fee we can have our backplates machined to your own locks, but we must receive the lock specifications by fax or e-mail. Please plan for a one-week turnaround.

Can you provide U.S. mortise locks with a Schlage-C keyway profile?

Yes, if you prefer American round cylinders that may be rekeyed we can provide high-quality Accurate locks, which are 100% compatible with our lines. We can also rekey new cylinders for your existing doors.

What is needed to bid a residential project?

We require a precise floor plan showing the opening of the doors and windows, numbered individually. We need the thickness of all doors and the width of their stiles for proper backset selection, as well as their function: Passage, Privacy Bath, Privacy Patio, Entry. We will supply a detailed line-item proposal, and on delivery each door is packaged separately for easy installation.

Can The Golden Lion install the hardware, as well?

Absolutely. We install all of our lines based on a daily fee. We also offer maintenance service and project consultations.

Is there a minimum order?

There is no minimum order but if an order is less than $50 we charge a $25 handing fee.
